Why it's used

Nimica Tablet is used to treat acute (short-term) pain, painful osteoarthritis (swelling in the joints) and pain related with menstrual periods (primary dysmenorrhoea). This medicine works by blocking the enzyme activity (cyclooxygenase 1 and cyclooxygenase 2) which generates pain signals in the body. This medicine helps by exerting pain killing actions.
Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs
Nimica is a prescription medicine that belongs to a class of medicines called Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, also called as NSAIDs, help reduce fever, decrease pain, and prevent clotting of blood. NSAIDs also reduce inflammation in the body when used in higher doses.

How to use

Follow directions on the product label, information guide, and provided by your doctor before using Nimica. Consume this medicine as per your doctor's instructions.
Nimica is consumed after food.

Typical Dosage

The typical adult dose of Nimica is 100 mg twice a day after meals. The typical dose for children is 100 mg twice a day. The maximum dose for adults of Nimica is 100 mg twice daily per day. This medicine is commonly used for a period of 15 days for acute pain, 15 days for painful swelling in the joints (painful osteoarthritis), and 15 days for pain related with menstrual periods (primary dysmenorrhoea). There are no known habit-forming tendencies with this medicine.
This medicine should be used on an as-needed basis.

Talk to Your Doctor

Tell your doctor if you develop new or worsening symptoms. Talk to your doctor if the loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, persistent tiredness, dark urine, fever, flu-like symptoms, feeling achy, feeling unwell, and chills. If you have issues with the health of your liver, The use of Nimica 100mg Tablets/granules is not recommended in patients with liver dysfunction.
To see the impact of Nimica Tablet on the body, your doctor may recommend a lower initial dose. Please follow your doctor's instructions carefully. Older patients may see an increase in the risk of side-effects. Hence, a lower dose may be recommended.

Use in Children

The safety and effectiveness of using this medicine in children has not been established. The use of Nimica is not intended for children less than 12 years. However, patients of 12-18 years can take Nimica tablets/granules, and there is no need for dose adjustment in such patients.

Avoid Alcohol

Avoid drinking alcohol with Nimica.
Medicines may be given for uses other than those listed in the medicine guide. Do not use Nimica Tablet for symptoms for which it was not prescribed. Do not give Nimica Tablet to others who may have similar symptoms as you. Self-medication can cause harm.

How to take Nimica

Precautions while using Nimica

Before you use Nimica, tell your doctor of your medical and health history including the following:
  • alcohol addiction
  • allergic to Nimica
  • cerebrovascular bleeding
  • drug abuse
  • heart failure
  • increased liver enzymes
  • kidney disorders
  • liver diseases
  • long-term inflammatory bowel disease causing inflammation in the digestive tract (ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease)
  • severe blood clotting disorders
  • stomach and intestinal bleeding
  • stomach or intestinal ulcers
  • stroke
Before you use Nimica Tablet, tell your doctor if you are allergic to it or its ingredients. Your doctor may prescribe an alternative medicine and update your medical records to record this information. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid, or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Alcohol

Avoid the consumption of alcohol with Nimica Tablet.

Use in Pregnancy

Nimica Tablet is not safe for use in pregnant women. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, you should discuss with your doctor the impact this medicine may have on the baby before you start to use this medicine. The use of Nimica should not be done during the last 3 months of pregnancy. Nimica Tablet belongs to the NSAID class of medicines. NSAIDs should not be taken after 29 weeks of pregnancy as these medicines may cause serious harm to the unborn baby.

Use while Breastfeeding

Nimica is not safe for use in women who are breastfeeding. If you are breastfeeding, discuss with your doctor if you should either discontinue breastfeeding or stop using this medicine while breastfeeding. The use of Nimica is not recommended for women who are breastfeeding their infants.

Impact on Fertility

Consult with your doctor on the use of Nimica Tablet, if you are trying to conceive. Patients who are planning to conceive should inform their doctor since the use of Nimica may decrease fertility.

Increased Risk

This medicine can cause stomach bleeding. The use of alcohol/tobacco with Nimica may increase the risk. Talk to your doctor if you drink alcohol or smoke regularly.

Side-effects in Older Patients

Nimica Tablet may increase side-effects in older patients. Elderly patients may see an increased risk of stomach and intestinal bleeding, liver damage, abnormal functioning of the kidneys, abnormalities of the heart, and ruptured bowel.

Warnings

Damaged Female Fertility

The use of 100mg tablets or granules of Nimica may damage the fertility condition of women. Nimica is not advised in women trying to conceive. Women who are undergoing research of infertility, Nimica 100mg granules/ tablets should be withdrawn.

Liver Damage

Patients with severe injuries of liver and abnormal liver function tests are at an increased risk. These patients may experience symptoms such as eating disorder, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, fatigue, and dark colored urine. Rare chances of liver damage have been reported with the use of Nimica. Discontinue the use of Nimica in patients with severe injuries of liver and abnormal liver function tests.

Use of Other Analgesics

Patients are advised to avoid the use of other analgesics while undergoing treatment with Nimica.

History of Stomach and Intestinal Events

Patients with history of stomach and intestinal disorders are at an increased risk. Such patients may develop an increased risk of stomach and intestinal bleeding and ulceration in the stomach. Take necessary precautions while using Nimica in patients with stomach and intestinal disorders. Discontinue the use of Nimica in patients who are developing the severe condition of the stomach and intestinal bleeding.

Kidney or Heart Damage

Elderly patients are particularly more susceptible to the side effects of NSAIDs, including stomach and intestinal bleeding and perforation, damaged kidney, heart and liver function. The use of Nimica 100mg tablets or granules may result in a decline of the functioning of kidneys. Caution is needed in patients with kidney or heart damage. In the case of decline, the treatment should be discontinued. Proper clinical monitoring should be advised.

Bleeding Disorders

Nimica can interfere with platelet function. The patients who have the sensitivity to bleed (bleeding diathesis) should use Nimica with caution.

Interactions with Nimica

Cyclosporin

Methotrexate

When should Nimica be not used?

Use in Children and Pregnant Women

Use of Nimica is not recommended in children under 12 years and in the third trimester of pregnancy and the women who are breastfeeding their infants.

Abnormal Functioning of the Kidneys

Use of 100 mg Tablets/granules of Nimica should not be used in case of severe kidney damage (creatinine clearance < 30ml/min).

Allergic to Nimica

Use of Nimica is not recommended in patients with known allergic symptoms such as contraction of the muscles of lungs, irritation, and swelling of the mucous membrane in the nose and hives. Also, it is not used in patients allergic to Nimica excipients.

Abnormal Functioning of the Liver

100 mg Tablets/granules of Nimica should not be used in patients with liver abnormalities.

Stomach and Intestinal Disorders

Avoid the use of Nimica in patients with stomach and intestinal ulcers, episodes of bleeding in the stomach, intestine, and brain.

Severe Abnormal Bleeding Disorders

Such patients should strictly avoid the use of Nimica.

Heart Failure

Patients who are suffering from the worsening of the heart condition (heart failure) should not use Nimica.

Alcoholism and Drug Addiction

Patients who are alcoholic or who have drug addiction should not use Nimica.

Traveling With Medication

  • Ensure that you carry enough doses of each of your prescription medicines to last the entire trip. The best place to store your medicines is in the carry on baggage. However, while flying, if carrying liquid medicines, make sure you do not go over the limits imposed for carry-on liquids.
  • While traveling overseas, make sure that you can carry each of your prescription medicines legally to your destination country. One way to ensure this is by checking with your destination country's embassy or website.

Expired Medication

Taking a single dose of expired Nimica is unlikely to cause a side-effect. However, please discuss with your doctor or pharmacist, if you feel unwell or sick. You are much safer by always keeping a fresh supply of unexpired medicines.

Safe Disposal of Medication

  • If there are disposal instructions on the package, please follow the instructions.
